Traveling back-and-forth for work

I am one of a few people on the island that works remotely. Also, my work requires me to travel at least once a month. Everyone on the island says I'm lucky because I get a bit of island life, peppered with some city life to keep things balanced. I feel like it is making it difficult for me to get settled because as soon as I have a rhythm, I have to go and leave for a week.

That being said, it has given me time to pop back home and see friends and family. I was lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving with some of my side family, too and my husband came up with the kids (definitely important considering the recent health scares in my family). Also, my colleagues are really great and fun to be around when I am at work, but I still do miss my kids and I wish I (and my husband) did not have to travel so regularly to make this experience work...
