ABOUT THE BLOG
The Roots
I grew up with super-present parents. They never missed a sporting event, art show or choral concert. This wasn't for lack of being "busy" - my Dad had 3 jobs, my Mom 2 - they still made it work. I never fully appreciated their ability to always be there until I became a parent myself. I asked my Dad how he did it, and he told me a story that resonated with me:

A professor presented an empty jar to his class and placed rocks in it and asked this class, "Is this full?". The class responded, "Yes". He then put sand in the jar and asked the class again, "Is this full?". The class responded, "Yes". He then placed water in the jar and asked the class, "Is this full?". The class responded, "Yes, definitely this time!".
The professor then proceeded to ask - what's the lesson in this. Some responded with "You never know how much you can fit in". The professor then said, "No, the lesson is you can't fit everything in unless you put the rocks in first".

My dad said, you were always my rocks..everything had to fit around you...
The truth is my rocks need to be reset. Work is taking the biggest space, followed by kids..barely leaving room for my husband and me in the jar.
This blog is about my families move to the Virgin Islands and my personal journey towards getting my rocks, sand and water in the right order for how I want to live.
